Radio Show: Research and planning

I decided to record a radio show sponsored by my magazine brand which was about educating the listeners on their favourite artist's career and journey as musicians. This is desirable to the magazine's target audience as aspirers as it features a famous musician with a lot of status and an inspiring story - coming from a life of poverty which links to my strapline - Inspiring the youth with the latest and the best! I decided to do this to add cross-media convergence as the Radio station is sponsored by my magazine.

I chose Michael Jackson who's an iconic artist known as the "King of Pop" and popular amongst Gen Z decades later. My target audience are avid social media users including TikTok, and heaven can wait was a challenge in 2022, and the sound went viral which is why I decided heaven can wait should be featured in my radio show. Due to this viral trend I chose Michael Jackson to be the subject of this Radio show.

Recording process:

This was my setup to record my radio show. I had a mic, a control desk and 4 screens connected the PC.

I wrote a script for my show with the speech paragraphs and songs to separate the speech.

I used Audacity the application to record my show.

I used Spotify on one of the screens to queue my music.

This was the desk I was working with to record my show with all these controls for transitioning.

I used the MC fader control to raise the mic's volume while recording over the music.

I used the PC control to raise the music's volume

I used the controls to fade in and out of the music in between the speech in my script.
I used the SPK control to raise and lower the playback volume to hear the music while my headphones weren't on and I used the HP control to adjust the volume in my headphones while I was talking.

Editing:

I saved my recording to audacity and unedited as an mp3 file

I edited my audio by selecting and deleting awkward silences and gaps in my speech by using the cut tool. Some parts of audio I didn't like the sound of like saying "Now playing", so I fixed it by copying and pasting a "now playing" that I prteffered from earlier in my show.

I saved my audacity file as a MP3 file and linked my Radio show recording file to the Listen Now icon on my website for cross media convergence.

I customised the boarder of my Listen now icon by manipulating the opacity and the colours to match the red in the picture next to my description and the "Sponsored by POISE" text.
